Pharaby Used AIC Buttons to Tell Me About Her Dream—Here’s What Happened!

Dog laying on bed with text 'My dog told me about her dream' using an AIC button for communication.

We’ve been using AIC buttons to communicate since April 2020. At first, it was just the basics—requests like water, walk or play—but over time, it’s become a way for Pharaby to share her thoughts and feelings with me. She’s even started asking questions, which is amazing to witness & be a part of! Like, how is this my real life?!?

She’s talked about everything from animals outside to the weather, and she loves to know what I’m up to. But this time, I think she told me about a dream!

About 15 minutes before this moment, Pharaby and I were taking a nap on the sofa. After we woke up, we started doing some puzzles, and then she walked over to her buttons and said, “see friend.” I asked her more about it, and she replied with “sleep.” Considering the timeline—our nap, her response—it really felt like she was talking about a dream. How cool is that?

Using AIC buttons has added so much to our lives, and I truly believe it can do the same for other dogs and cats. It’s not just about their daily needs, but about giving them a voice to share their thoughts and feelings. I can’t imagine going through life without the ability to express myself, so I love that Pharaby has this opportunity to speak her mind.

This moment was another one of those experiences that leaves me in awe, learning even more about what dogs think about. I’ve always felt close to my animals, but knowing what Pharaby thinks about and wants to discuss has brought us even closer in ways I never imagined possible. If you're interested in teaching your dog or cat to communicate using buttons, I’ve got tons of resources linked below, including my book, Button Up!
