Hey everyone, I wanted to share something personal that's been on my mind today. You may not know this, but alongside my PTSD, I also experience something called Functional Neurological Symptom Disorder (FNSD) Sometimes called (FND), formerly known as Conversion Disorder.
What is FNSD?
FNSD is a condition where psychological stress, like trauma, converts into physical symptoms without a clear medical cause. For me, this sometimes means my eyes shut involuntarily when I get overwhelmed—a symptom directly tied to my PTSD.
Living with FNSD and PTSD
Navigating life with PTSD and FNSD can be challenging. The physical symptoms are a constant reminder of the trauma, making everyday activities more difficult. But understanding and awareness can make a huge difference.
Why I Share This
My trauma stems from domestic violence, and I want other women to know that you can get PTSD from such experiences. It's important to recognize that domestic violence can have profound and lasting impacts on mental health. By sharing my story, I hope to raise awareness and let others know they are not alone. Healing is possible, and support is available.
Let's continue to educate ourselves and support each other. 💙
