I recently took my service dog to a Christmas parade. I was not sure what to expect since she had never been to a parade before. My service dog is solid on her tasks & all though I do consider her "in training" on some stuff (like parades) I consider her to be fully trained in other spaces, like... the grocery store. Anytime we have a new experience I get in to training mode just to be sure.
I want to quickly point out that she is fully trained according to the ADA standards.
Anyway, back to the story. So on the day of the parade I was not sure what to expect from her. I knew it would be really loud, have a ton of horses & things she hadn't experienced. She did GREAT! I couldn't have been more pleased with how she responded.
If you are training your own service dog, it is a good idea to take them on strange outings when possible.
I made a video about it too! If you want to watch, just click here.
